Who?

VisCom was founded by M. Charlene McCarthy, a Nationally Certified Sign Language Interpreter. A Sarasota resident for thirty years, Charlene has been serving the Deaf Community and area service providers since 1994. She holds a Certificate of Interpretation (CI) and a Certificate of Transliteration (CT) from Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID). As VisCom’s owner and Coordinator of Services, Charlene contracts with other qualified independent interpreters throughout South West and West Central Florida. All VisCom interpreters adhere to the RID Code of Professional Conduct, which holds them to a high level of professionalism in matters of interpretation and business practices.

Visual Communications of Sarasota/Manatee, Inc., D/B/A VisCom, was established in 2006 in response to the need for high quality sign language interpreting services in Sarasota and Manatee counties. In 2009, in response to deaf and hard of hearing sign language users and service providers in surrounding counties, VisCom expanded its regular service delivery area. VisCom remains deeply committed to responding to the need for high quality services throughout South West and West Central Florida. Our ultimate goal is to provide a service that will meet your needs and exceed your expectations.
